Who we are?

Vision: What do we want?

Young people living in the Alps are active and responsible citizens, they reflect critically, make informed decisions and contribute in designing the alpine future. Decision makers consult and involve them and take them seriously – and vice versa. The involvement of present and future generations is on the political agenda on a local, national and European level.

Mission: How can this vision become reality?

The CIPRA Youth Council aims to connect with other youth organizations and networks of local youth councils, to empower young people aged between 14 and 30, living in alpine countries, to have a say and be heard. We aim to help them to participate in decisions that affect them; so they have a voice and campaign on issues they believe in, inspire them to have a positive impact, and gain recognition for their contribution to communities, society and the world.

”The Youth Committee is an advisory body serving CIPRA International’s bodies, Management and Executive Office. The Youth Committee provides CIPRA with advice. They receive support in the implementation of their own projects and counselling for the further development of their ideas and concerns as well as access to CIPRA’s international network. The Youth Committee has the right to speak and table motions in the Assembly of Delegates, the Presiding Committee and, by prior agreement, the Executive Board. At the international level, the Youth Committee has an advisory function and plays a proactive role. It also submits proposals on subjects that are relevant in a young person’s view and are of interest to CIPRA.”  (from CIPRA Statute)

Our values

Having one ticket for all public transportation in the entire Alpine region – this is our vision. The Alpine Ticket (AlpTick) makes travelling in the Alps easier, more sustainable and more attractive for young people. It is an idea developed by the CIPRA Youth Council (CYC) based on its members’ experiences of travelling on public transport in the Alps.
